The transmission module is generally located under the vehicle or in the engine compartment, depending on the model and manufacturer. In most vehicles, the transmission module is usually installed below or next to the drive shaft. In some models, the transmission module may also be installed in the engine compartment, close to the transmission tank or engine control unit. A faulty transmission module may refer to a problem with the transmission control module (TCM). TCM is the electronic module responsible for controlling the transmission.
